Halloween and Fall Room Decor 2017!

This is one day late. Don’t murder me for it. I had it scheduled to upload on Halloween, but a WI-fi problem ruined that. These are some seasonal decor pieces, but some of them can be modified so that you can leave them up all year around. They are all really simple, but feel free to add some things and spice it up.

Who saw the new season of Stranger Things???? I’m four episodes in and I’m in love! The soundtrack this season is really good. Motley Crue, Ted Nugnet, Scorpions and (of course!) The Clash, with a musical appearance by Cyndi Lauper.

  1. Stranger Things Premiere Countdown

You will need paper, a printout of test from http://www.makeitstranger.com and tape.

This is by far the easiest DIY to do.

Step One. Color your page and decorate with Stranger Things-esque stickers or sketches.

Step Two. Cut out your text from makeitstranger.com. I mounted some on a peice of foam so that it stuck out.

Step Three. Find a central area to cover in clear tape. This is where the whiteboard is.

2. Song Lyric Sheet Music

Another really easy one.

You will need a printout of sheet music (I chose ‘Fallen Leaves’ by Billy Talent!) and a black marker.

Step One. Find and print sheet music. Try and pick a song that you like and know the lyrics to, because we’re just going to write the lyrics on later.

Step Two. Write on lyrics you think fit or that you like. This would make a cute card as well. I used the most iconic lyrics of ‘Fallen Leaves’, in a crooked little town/they were lost and never found.

3. Halloween Signs

It’s so easy i don’t even get it.

You will need cardboard from cereal boxes, those bead necklaces that are like a dollar from the dollar store and a Halloween-ish printout.

The Only Step. Print out a Halloween sign. Glue to cardboard and cut out. Trim a bead necklace to make a hangar and tape to the back.

4. Wall Coffin

You will need paint, paper and a Halloween-type quote.

Step One. Cut your paper into the size of a coffin. If you wanted to buy a wooden coffin box form the dollar store and spray paint it white, that would look really good as well.

Step Two. Pick some fall colors of paint and splatter them all over the page. Once dry, write on your quote.

5.Tumblr Locker Magnets

Unfortunately, since they are at school, I couldn’t get a picture.

You will need magnets, stickers and paper.

Step One. Sketch some fall decals on white paper and cut them out. Glue to magnets. Yu can also use stickers if you aren’t confident in your artistic abilities.

Step Two. Cut out and put on display.

Bonus Material: Mug Insert

You will need paper and red paint in two shades.

Step One. Cut white paper to fit in your mug.

Step Two. Put your paint in a palette and paint one hand one shade. Place on the paper to make it look like bloody handprints. Use the other shade to add detailing.

Thank you for reading my blog! If you aren’t already following, make sure to do that so that you don’t miss out! Again, I;m sorry this is late. You can always use these for next year! Stay Gold!

DIY Keychains!

My parents just gave me a set of keys!!! To make sure that I would not lose them (something i did on the very first day I had them), I decided to make some really creative and unique key chains that I knew nobody else would have. I came up with three really creative ideas that worked out really well. So, do you guys want to hear them? I’m going to assume so because you are reading this post.

  1. TV Show Keychains

I love to watch TV, don’t you? Like most people, I have favorites. Some of mine include “The Librarians”, “Stranger Things”, “Death in Paradise” and BBC’s “Class”. To save some money and grief (you can’t find things for some shows anywhere!), i decided that i was going to make them myself.

You will need string or a jump ring, cardstock or paperboard, clear tape, patterned duct tape and printouts of TV show logos

Step One. Select some TV show logos and paste them into a Word file. Print

Step Two. Cut out a piece of cardstock or paperboard (the cardboard from cereal boxes) and cover in duct tape. Punch a hole in the top.

Step Three. Tape on your logo. Thread a string or a jump ring through the hole. Attach to your key to finish

2. Tumblr Inspired: Pixel Speech Bubble Keychains

I love pixel speech bubbles. They are totally awesome. When i made keycahins, i just had to have some.

You will need pixel speech bubbles with sassy sayings (ex. only Librarians can touch my keys, the sass is strong with this one, excuse me while i fangirl and don’t let anyone tell you your not a Unicorn), clear tape and string

Step One. Print and cut out your speech bubbles. Cut a length of string that you desire.

Step Two. Thread one end of the string through the hole on your key or the jump ring its attached to and then put the two ends on the blank side of the speech bubble. Cover both sides in tape to finish.

3. Quote Keychain

I just love inspirational quotes! Everybody does, right? I used a quote from a Fireflight song called “Unbreakable” for this DIY. Forget the fear/its just a crutch/that tried to hold you back and turn your dreams to dust/all you need to do is just/ trust – Fireflight, Unbreakable.

You will need duckling tape (mini duct tape or washi tape), string and a quote printout.

Step One. Cut tou your quote and rim in duct tape. Leave the tape at the top open.

Step Two. Thread one end of the string through the jump ring or hole in the key and connect both ends to the tape. Fold the tape over and cut off the excess

5 Books to Read over Winter Break+ DIY Quote Bookmark

It’s getting colder and you want to stay inside literally all day.  What makes that better than a book? Not much. Only hot chocolate, sugar cookies and “The Librarians”, “Death and Paradise” or “Fresh off the Boat” are what I can think of. I love to cozy up with a fluffy blanket and a book with the fireplace on while the snow blazes around outside. Then again, who doesn’t like that? Here are five books and a DIY that will help you get through your winter break.

jingle.jpg

1. Jingle by Gordon Korman

Griffin Bing is the man with a plan. Even he couldn’t get out of this one. When his friend Logan Kellerman signs them all up to be elves in the holiday spectacular, even the biggest plan can’t get them out of it. But when a blackout results in the theft of the Star of Prague, they are the ones blamed for it. If they can’t find the Star soon, it could be the least wonderful time of the year, behind bars. See my opinion on Swindle here.

dashing-through-the-snow

2. Dashing Through the Snow by Mary and Carol Higgins Clark

A holiday mystery from bestselling mother-daughter duo Mary and Carol Higgins Clark. In Branscombe, New Hampshire, the town is preparing for the first annual Festival of Joy. Four employees at Conklin’s market buy a lottery ticket. The next Friday, Glenda, Marion, Tommy and Ralph become millionaires. But wait, what happened to Duncan Graham, the fifth employee who at the last minute decided not to play? Did he decide to buy the ticket in the next town over that is also worth millions? Sounds like a case for Alvirah Meehan and Regan Reilly!

loot

3. Loot by Jude Watson

Okay, not a Christmas book. But definitely a book that will get you through all the boring holiday parties with non-stop 12-year-old tweenagers antics. After his father, world-renowned cat burglar Alfie McQuinn falls to his death from a rooftop in Amsterdam, March is sent to an  orphanage for troubled kids, he finds his sister Jules. When he finds out that there are three diamonds to be found that are worth millions, the orphanages children set out to both find and steal them. the current only other book is Sting.

13-gifts

4. 13 Gifts by Wendy Mass

Like all stupid mistakes, Tara Brennan’s involved a goat. More specifically, trying to steal a stuffed goat from her principle. After finding this out, Her mother sends her to the sleepy and quiet town of Willow Falls. There she meets new friends and strange people.  Like Angelina DiAngelo, who tasks her to find a list of thirteen bizarre things in time for her thirteenth birthday. Thirteen in this case is not the world’s most unluckiest number.

mistletoe-mystery

5. Nancy Drew #169: The Mistletoe Mystery by Carolyn Keene

Bess and Nancy are decorating Albemarle’s department store for the holidays. When some expensive Elle-Louise party dresses are stolen from WAVE, the young adult department, Bess’s Bestie (try saying that five times fast!) Ali Marie is accused of it and fired. Nancy, Bess and George are once again, on the case.

The DIY: Quote Bookmark

A really simple DIY. All you need is a piece of tissue box and a marker.
