BILLY TALENT AFRAID OF HEIGHTS ALBUM UNBOXING!!! AND FIRST LISTEN!

Before you call me obsessed, yes, I am. And I’m okay with that. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to do an unboxing on a blog, but let’s give this a try!

The album cover is pretty cool. It depicts one side of greed, and the other side shows what will happen if we continue on this path.

Afraid of Heights (Reprise)

I was a little disappointed with the inside of the album this time around. When you open Afraid of Heights, it folds out in threes. Usually, all three panels would have a design. With Dead Silence, it was Toronto swallowed by the ocean. This time, only the middle panel had a design on it.

On the left side, you can slide out a lyrics book, which features each songs single artwork as well as the lyrics. It also has a mastered for headphones download. If you go to billytalent.com/mfhp and type in the code on the slip, you can download free mastered for headphones versions of the tracks.

On the right side, you can slide out the CD. The CD is red with an optical illusion in the middle. I was expecting something plain, like on Dead Silence, but must say I was pleasantly surprised. It almost makes up for the lack of artwork.

big red gun

Track One. Big Red Gun

Big Red Gun is about Mass Shootings. In an interview, bassist Jonathan Gallant said ‘The USA is trying to fix a gun problem with more guns, and to us, that;s just reverse ideology. They got this backwards, and that’s sort of where Big Red Gun came from’. Great opener, and twice the song ‘Afraid of Heights’ is. this should have been the title track, in my opinion.

Lyrics
Brothers in arms who share my fears,
Time to protect what you hold dear
There’s been a rise in new ideals,
Threatening to change the way we live
Who knows what trouble’s found a way,
Found a way to your door today
Who knows what trouble’s on its way,
On its way to intimidate
All I want is a big red gun
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh
I’m gonna shoot, shoot, shoot at the setting sun
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh
And all I want is a big red gun,
I’m gonna shoot, shoot, shoot till the thrill is gone
‘Cause this is my right no matter the cost
Get outta my sight when baby’s got a big red gun
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh
Baby’s got a big red gun
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh
Pride is a weapon in your hand
Freedom awards the faithful man
I hear the message loud and clear,
Straight from his lips into my ear
And lord I just can’t walk away,
Walk away from the enemy
The law will never disagree,
On the target of my insecurities
All I want is a big red gun
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh
I’m gonna shoot, shoot, shoot at the setting sun
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh
And all I want is a big red gun,
I’m gonna shoot, shoot, shoot till the thrill is gone
And how many lives will have to be lost to understand why my baby’s got a big red gun?
We call them twisted and deranged (baby’s got a big red gun)
But we gave them the keys to annihilate (baby’s got a big red gun)
How long before the next one’s in the ground? (Baby’s got a big red gun)
So proud of all your history (baby’s got a big red gun)
But history made a big mistake (baby’s got a big red gun)
The judge and jury stand before you now (baby’s got a big red gun)
‘Cause baby’s got a big red gun
Baby’s got a big red gun
Baby’s got a big red gun
Oh momma what have I become?

afraidofheights

Track Two. Afraid of Heights

The title track. Afraid of Heights is said to be about commitment. Two lovers in a relationship and one is scared to take some kind of jump. It is a really sweet song. They were able to write a great love song while still maintaining their original style. Maybe not title track worthy. The album should have been called either Big Red Gun or The Crutch, in my opinion. Still a killer song, though.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Wherever I go, wherever I go
I have to question the hand that I hold close

Wherever I go, wherever I go
I have to silence the words that you fear most

Don’t ever let go, don’t ever let go
Are we destined to hit the ground below?

Don’t ever let go, don’t ever let go
We’re at the end of a burning tightrope

[Chorus]
Now I’m waiting on the corner in the back of your mind
It’s a lonely place to live, and I got nowhere to hide
Cause you told me that you’d never be afraid of heights again

Nobody ever thought that we could make it this high
You’re the only one I’d follow ’til the end of time
If we fall, we fall together baby, don’t think twice again

[Verse 2]
Together I know, together I know
That we’d burn like a rocket’s afterglow
Together I know, together I know
We could conquer the stars beyond this world

We let it all go, we let it all go
I’m just a voice on a broken radio

We let it all go, we let it all go
We got lost in the constellations

(Don’t think twice again again )

[Bridge]
And after all of these years, and all of this time
Darling, if I’m still a question in your mind
Well just say the words and this will end

Yeah!

[Chorus]
You told me that you’d never be afraid of heights
You told me that you’d never be afraid of heights
You told me that you’d never be afraid of heights again
You told me that you’d never be afraid of heights
You told me that you’d never be afraid of heights
If we fall, we fall together baby, don’t think twice again

[Outro]
Wherever I go, wherever I go
I hear your voice on a broken radio
Wherever I go, wherever I go
I know we’ll burn like a rocket’s afterglow
Don’t ever let go, don’t ever let go
So are we destined to hit the ground below?
Don’t ever let go, don’t ever let go
Are we just watching the final chapter close?

ghost ship of cannibal rats

Track Three. Ghost Ship of Cannibal Rats

One of the best songs on the album, rumored to be about the fabled ghost ship of cannibal rats in Russia. After a ship went missing and was assumed to have wrecked itself somewhere, it was seen off the coast of Russia. Once people could get on board, they discovered that it was full of, you guessed it, cannibal rats. It was soon used as a metaphor for democracy and the economy.

Lyrics
Is never given enough today
I’m tired of looking the other way
(Respect!)
An appetite that we can’t sustain
We’re on a mission to kiss our days away
So how long before the rivers start to rise, dear?
Yeah I thank my lucky stars to be alive here
A generation of castaways
Under a nation of tidal waves
(Respect!)
Are we the passengers or the prey?
You can’t escape from the past on holiday
So how long before the rivers start to rise, dear?
Pack your bags because the tide is getting high
Don’t be afraid of the view from economy class
It’s just the captain and crew jumping off of the mast
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
Who’s gonna sound the alarm when the bridges collapse?
Is this the point where the bomb reaches critical mass?
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
Catastrophic events don’t change
Today we feast, but tomorrow we pay
(Respect!)
But don’t you worry cause you’ll be safe
I got a ticket to piss your days away
So how long before the rivers start to rise, dear?
Yeah I thank my lucky stars to be alive here
Don’t be afraid of the view from economy class
It’s just the captain and crew jumping off of the mast
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
Who’s gonna sound the alarm when the bridges collapse?
Is this the point where the bomb reaches critical mass?
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
Don’t be afraid of the view from economy class
It’s just the captain and crew jumping off of the mast
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
Who’s gonna sound the alarm when the bridges collapse?
Is this the point where the bomb reaches critical mass?
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
One city from the coast disappearing too fast
One city from the coast sunk into the past
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
One city from the coast disappearing too fast
One city from the coast, we can never come back
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats
All aboard on the ghost ship of cannibal rats

louder than the dj

Track Four. Louder Than the DJ

Definitely the least load-bearing song on this album. IT gives you time to let loose and relax from the heavier sounds on the album. This song is simply said to just be about believing in the power of rock and roll. I think that sounds about right.

Lyrics
The party’s over, called it a night
I hope you had the time of your life
They say that rock will never survive
It’s up to youth to keep her alive
And I don’t know what’s making you tick
Generation narcissistic
Little Miss Selfie, Lonely Boy Slick
It’s time you get a brand new fix, baby
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Faster, faster, faster than the airwaves
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
We surfed until the end of the set
Our leather jackets covered in sweat
Those glory days, they ain’t over yet
So light that torch and burn like a jet
‘Cause revolution starts on the mic
Strike three chords that cut like a knife
Radio needs a shot to the vein
Of anger, fury, heartache, and pain, baby
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Faster, faster, faster than the airwaves
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Someone said a long time ago
Rock ‘n’ roll would never grow old
She still got the fire left in her bones
The lights go down, the crowd explodes
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Louder than the DJ
Someone said a long time ago
Rock ‘n’ roll would never grow old
She still got the fire left in her bones
And we’re not gonna pack up and go cause we’re
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
She’ll be back some day, I know, baby
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Faster, faster, faster than the airwaves
Louder, louder, louder than the DJ
Someone said a long time ago
Rock ‘n’ roll would never grow old
She still got the fire left in her bones
The lights go down, the crowd explodes
Louder than the DJ
(And Ian’s guitar)
Louder than the DJ
(The band at the bar)
Louder than the DJ
(Never change who you are)
Louder than the DJ

the crutch

Track Five. The Crutch

The. Best. Song. On. The. Entire. F*****g. Album. Hands-Down. This song is seriously amazing. If you read my Great Songs You’ve Probably NEVER Heard of You Should Listen To This Summer , you know the extent of my love to this song. Play it as loud as you can, because this is pure, raw rock. I’m in LOVE with it!

Lyrics
I should have turned and walked away
But I got tangled in your chains
A trail of dead for all to see
You shut the cage and stole the key
Your state of mind revealed
That my love for you was real
They say in time wounds heal
But I got nothing left to steal
My mouth is shut, my lips are sealed
You are the crutch of this disease
And I’ve been locked in your machine
Sit here and rot, or break this deal
I spill my blood on the checkered floor
You got me crawling back for more
You set the trap, I’ll take the bait
A bed of nails I can’t escape
Your state of mind revealed
That my love for you was real
They say in time wounds heal
But I got nothing left to steal
My mouth is shut, my lips are sealed
You are the crutch of this disease
And I’ve been locked in your machine
Sit here and rot, or break this deal
Now it’s so dark that I can’t see
The mental scars you left on me
So dig your nails and grind your teeth
I’m in your clutch for eternity
Yeah, I know it’s hard for you to see
The mental scars you left on me
So dig your nails and grind your teeth
I’m in your clutch for eternity
My mouth is shut, my lips are sealed
You are the crutch of this disease
And I’ve been locked in your machine
Sit here and rot, or break this deal
Oh, my mouth is shut, my lips are sealed
You are the crutch of this disease
And I’ve been locked in your machine
Sit here and rot, or break this deal

rabbit down the hole

Track Six. Rabbit Down The Hole

I don’t know why, but this song took me a little to warm up to. i wasn’t so sure i liked the beat, then I thought it was too long, then too somber. But after going back and listening to it again, I decided that it was actually one of the best songs on the album, and the best power ballad i’d ever listened to. This song is about overcoming drugs, or something more severe. Like metal health issues and radical ideas. Dementia and Alzheimer’s. And how love ones try to help, but are often wasting their time. It is a very powerful song.

Lyrics
Buried in the mail before the early morning
Under the frost that’s forming his words are calling
Even though alarm bells ring without a warning
All of the clocks keep ticking, and time keeps flowing
Everyone that I hold dearly, I try to keep them close
‘Cause some of them get bitten by the rabbit down the hole
Once they walk past through the grass, they’re never coming home
Easy to live but yet so hard to nail
Maybe they’ve lost their way but found their savior
Living in the fable life’s a fairy tale
Except our thoughts are fragile our minds are frail
Everyone that you hold dearly, you try to keep them close
‘Cause some of them get bitten by that rabbit down the hole
And once you walk past through the grass, you’re never coming home
Good God what have I done?
Mother nature’s lonely son
Mother nature’s lonely son
Chase that rabbit down the hole
Wander through the open door that leads to nowhere
Who’s gonna take away my pain, take away my pain
Before you know you’re trapped inside the spider’s web
You’re screaming there is no escape, there is no escape
The invitation’s written clearly, you’re the one he chose
Until the day your bitten by the rabbit down the hole
Follow his procession deep into the ground below
Good God what have I done?
Mother nature’s lonely son
Mother nature’s lonely son
Chase that rabbit down the hole
I’ll drown or I will burn
Down the path of no return
Down the path of no return
Chase that rabbit down the hole
Rabbit down the hole
I’d never thought I’d see her suffer, I gave her all I could
And everything I had to offer, was never understood
How many days until her mind has left this world for good?
Good God what have I done?
Mother nature’s lonely son
Mother nature’s lonely son
Chase that rabbit down the hole
I’ll drown or I will burn
Down the path of no return
Down the path of no return
Chase that rabbit down the hole
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll fade away (Chase that rabbit down the hole)
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away (Chase that rabbit down the hole)
One of these days you’ll fade away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll fade away (Chase that rabbit down the hole)
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll break away
One of these days you’ll fade away

time bomb ticking away

Track Seven. Time Bomb Ticking Away

I;m not 100% sure what this song is about. Some say environmental destruction. Some say the apocalypse. I think it;s about people with violent tendencies who need to talk to people, but people won’t listen. It is a really good song. And one of my favorites.

Lyrics
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb nobody cares ’till it’s too late
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb you better pray you’re somewhere safe
We’re transfixed on a pendulum sky
Watch another tank of gasoline run dry
A death stare from a cold dead eye
As you’re chopping up the carrot, sharpening their knives
Don’t blink, keep your eyes on the prize
While you rip me up to pieces, cut me down to size
Don’t dare, try to keep it inside
‘Cause the only way to make us laugh is to make us cry
Just when you thought you’ve seen it all
A storm awaits behind the door
Disgruntled right down to the core
We still go on
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb nobody cares ’till it’s too late
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb you better pray you’re somewhere safe
Beat up, put the slate to the grind
Another rocket launcher going off inside my mind
Tight cuffs only hold me tight
Every thought about the future leaves me terrified
I’m sick of the same old lies
Why don’t you talk about your feelings? Who gives a shit about mine?
Death grips got a hold of my side
Because the only way to make us laugh is to make us cry
Just when you thought you’ve seen it all
A storm awaits behind the door
Disgruntled right down to the core
We still go on
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb nobody cares till it’s too late
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb you better pray you’re somewhere safe
Oh, we got a time bomb ticking away inside
And the only way to make us laugh is to make us cry
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb ticking away
Watching the time bomb ticking away
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away inside
And the only way to make us laugh is to make us cry
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away inside
Everybody needs a little help when the world is blind
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away inside
And the only way to make us laugh is to make us cry
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away (our world’s got no liberty)
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away (locked up in a little cage)
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away (this world is a bitter place)
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away (our world’s got no liberty)
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away (locked up in a little cage)
You’re watching the time bomb ticking away (this world is a bitter place)

Track Eight. Leave Them All Behind

Originally disliked for being too mellow, I disagree. This song is about perseverance and finding your place in the world. Finding your reason why.  I personally find it really empowering. It is now my power ballad. To see my long rant about the songs power, click here

Lyrics

Tired of all the promises and never coming through
It’s easy to pretend until they turn their back on you
And all the ones that bring you down, their colors weren’t that true
And life’s become a battle that you swore you’d never lose
It don’t matter what went wrong this time, don’t matter what went right
We’re always searching for the reason why
And the longest road to find it will take many years to climb
Don’t wait up for that moment to arrive
Leave them all behind
Yeah, I’m tired of all the promises and never coming through
It’s easy to pretend until they turn their back on you
Yeah, and all the ones that bring you down, their colors weren’t that true
And when you lose your confidence your mind plays tricks on you
It don’t matter what went wrong this time, don’t matter what went right
We’re always searching for the reason why
And the longest road to find it will take many years to climb
We keep on getting stuck here all the time
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train, the words they say couldn’t stop us if they tried
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train I know some day everything’s gonna fall in line
I’ve been struck down and defeated every step along the way
Become I’m your own worst enemy when nothing seems to change
You have to fail a thousand times before you get it straight
So catch me if you can ’cause I ain’t leaving this to fate
It don’t matter what went wrong this time, don’t matter what went right
We’re always searching for the reason why
And the longest road to find it will take many years to climb
We keep on getting stuck here all the time
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train, the words they say couldn’t stop us if they tried
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train I know some day, everything’s gonna fall in line
Oh, oh, oh
Tired of all the promises and never coming through
Stop waiting for that moment to arrive
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train, the words they say couldn’t stop us if they tried
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train I know some day, everything’s gonna fall in line
We’re gonna leave them all behind, We’re gonna leave them all behind
We’re gonna catch that train I know some day, everything’s gonna fall in line
Yeah!
horses and chariots

Track Nine.Horses and Chariots

My least favorite song. It’s about war and pride. But something about it just gets on my nerves. I don’t know. The lyric quality is really good, and it is a really meaningful song, I simply don’t like it.

Lyrics
Horses and chariots
Churches and states
Devotion turns dangerous
When armed with rules of faith
Prisoners and patriots
Angels and saints
If minds are persuaded enough
Compassion turns to hate
Time comes to bury us
Together we must stay
(Don’t let the)
Horses and chariots
Drag our love away
No
Borders and boundary signs
Drawn by red tape
Those who colour outside of the lines
Define the human race
Warlords and suffering eyes
Soldiers and slaves
The side of the fence that we climb
Determines who’s afraid
Time comes to bury us
Together we must stay
(Don’t let the)
Horses and chariots
Drag our love away
(Until we)
Swallow our pride
Our hearts will collide
And the skies of hysteria will
Come rain down on you
Cleanse the soul from the hands that divide
Our world in time
Time comes to bury us
Well how can you live while so many die?
(Don’t let the)
Horses and chariots
Hide the view from their eyes
(Until we)
Swallow our pride
We’ve chosen a faith, we’ve chosen a side
(Until we)
Swallow our pride
Our hearts will collide

this is our war.jpg

Track Ten. This Is Our War

Originally thought to be an anti-Republican anthem, those people aren’t wrong. It’s only about people like Trump though, or so I’ve been told. Personally, I think it’s about all the corrupt politicians out there. Not necessarily in the states, but that was one screwed up election. It’s all call to arms saying that no matter where your from, or what your personal beliefs are, we all need to stand together against these corrupt figures.

Lyrics
Once there was a nation here
Now there is no more
Once we fought to change our fears
But now this is our war (This is our war)
This is our war
Wash your mind out, where’s your morals?
How many people have to live this sorrow?
Life should not be begged or borrowed
How many really want to change tomorrow?
We’re still playing the prideful game
As we profile the enemy that we created
We’re still playing the prideful game
With the cards on the table
In the end we’re all the same
Where’s the compassion in the world today?
Yeah, we’re all the same
Until we find another way
This is our war (This is our war)
Once there was a nation here
Now there is no more (This is our war)
Once we fought for change arm in arm
But now this is our war
Divisive words from ivory towers
Seeds of intolerance turn into flowers
Countless fools and reckless cowards
Rally the people in the quest for power
We’re still playing the prideful game
As we profile the enemy that we created
We’re still playing the prideful game
With the cards on the table
In the end we’re all the same
Where’s the compassion in the world today?
Yeah, we’re all the same
Until we find another way
This is our war (This is our war)
Once there was a nation here
Now there is no more (This is our war)
Once we fought for change arm in arm
But now this is our war
Is this the land of segregation?
Is this a place that we call home?
Don’t let the old style generation
Carry the flag for you and me no more
This is our war
This is our war
We’re into the red, We’re into the red
And as it burns the fire spreads
We’re under the threat, We’re under the threat
Will it still burn tomorrow?
Once there was a nation here
Now there is no more
Once we fought to change our fears
But now this is our war (This is our war)
Once there was a nation here
Now there is no more (This is our war)
Once we fought for change arm in arm
But now this is our war
Is this the land of segregation?
Is this a place that we call home?
Don’t let the old style generation
Carry the flag for you and me no more (This is our war)
Once there was a nation divided
Now this is our war (This is our war)
Once we stand embraced arm in arm
We stand for something more

februray winds

Track Eleven. February Winds

This isn’t one of the best songs on the album, but it is really one of the most meaningful. This song is about the current refugee crisis and how much these people have been through, yet people still don’t want to welcome them into the country. Adam Kivel from Consequences Of Sound called it ‘filler’, and I think he;s dead wrong! This song is far from filler. The album has no filler. Each song is equally as important as the next.

Lyrics
Hey
Another, tragedy has
Set the scene for conscience to be revealed
And all the February
February winds are howling
Don’t tell me we’re adversaries
Don’t tell me we’re sworn enemies
‘Cause we all need necessary
Means to protect what we love
An ocean lies between us
Sufferings are constant, we never see
Behind our sanctuary
Sanctuary, walls so easy to breathe
Where is our apathy?
Has, apathy been lost while drifting at sea
We are the refugees
Don’t worry we’ll survive on hopes of
Don’t tell me we’re adversaries
Don’t tell me we’re sworn enemies
‘Cause we all need necessary
Means to protect what we love
Light up your book of matches
Open your hearts to action
We all need second chances
What reason to help but for love?
February winds
February winds
No we are not adversaries
We were not born enemies
We all need necessary
Means to protect what we love
Light up your book of matches
Open your hearts to action
We all need second chances
What reason to help but for love?
We are not adversaries
We are not sworn enemies
We all need necessary
Means to protect what we love
February winds
The message that we send
Will come back in the end
Songwriters: Aaron Solowoniuk / Ben Kowalewicz / Ian D’sa / Jon Gallant
afraidofheights reprise

Track Twelve. Afraid Of Heights Reprise

Definitely my least favorite track on the album. Basically just a remix of ‘Afraid of Heights’ with guitarist Ian D’Sa playing piano in the background. This may be considered filler, but I don’t even want to count it as a track. I;d rather have the Japanese exclusive track ‘Half Past Dead’ because the reprise is a waste of space.

Also given credit on the album is drummer Aaron Solowonuick’s fight Multiple Sclerosis. Aaron was sidelined from this latest project from a relapse, rendering it impossible fro him to drum. This album was definitely different because of replacement drummer Jordan Hasting’s different style, but I think the album turned out alright. IT turned out great! In the back of the lyric book, there is a message to Aaron that reads,

This album is Dedicated to Aaron. We stand together in your fight

Ben Kowalewicz Quotes to Brighten Your Day

Hey.. I just thought that you guys might enjoy some of these stupid Ben Kowalewicz quotes from my other blog.. I do know that i really enjoyed reading them!

The Lifestyle Of An Awkward Teen Almost Genius

Ben Koawalewicz is an idiot. We all know that. He’s also 100% amazing. He has such a unique voice! Although he is getting older, so maybe they should stop performing ‘This Is How It Goes’ because he is going to break his vocal chords if he keeps screaming like that. Here are some of his best and stupidest quotes to brighten your day!

“Well what else do you do when you’re in jolly old England than go on a search for a teapot? –

Then This Happened….

  • Fuck the Da Vinci Code! It’s the teapot code.
  • In Hollywood I would have found the last teapot and it would be falling off the shelf in slow motion and I would have dove and caught it and we would have walked away in slow motion with you know, hands in the air, high fiving each other.
  • Art doesn’t always mirror life and…

#TASHToSchool2017: 3 Cute Notebook Designs

More notebooks! Simply had too many that I needed to make another post just devoted to notebooks! I do hope that you guys like the last one. If anything looked different, that’s because I was typing on my tablet, and probably will be for a little longer. Maybe a week. Enough talk. I like to keep my introductions short.

image

1. Lily Pulitzer inspired Notebook

You will need a computer and a notebook or binder.

The Only Step. Go to happilyhope.WordPress.com and print of one of her binder cover printables. Glue down and rim in duct take for a smooth finish.

image

2. Song Lyric Notebook

You will need a notebook, some lace or other material that is similar, cardstock paper and some sort of label.

Step One. Cover the notebook with your cardstock paper and use the material chosen above to section it off. Believe it or not, I used a drawer liner, and it worked just fine.

Step Two. Write the song lyrics in the gaps. You can write the lyrics to just one song, songs by one artist or collage a bunch of songs that you like or lyrics that you like.

image

3. Sunset Quote Notebook
You will need paint inthe colors of through sunset and ocean and a notebook.

Step One. Paintthe notebook in an ombre over the top two thirds. Once that is dry, paint the ‘ocean’ with blue. Wait for it to dry, then paint on the wave crests in white.

Step Two. Once the entire notebook is 100 percent dry, write on some smart aleck quite in black Sharpe and draw some details to enhance. Because I was painting my sketchbook I wrote ‘Art does not have match your sofa’, a Suzy Toronto quote. Seal with anything you have to seal it with to finish.

Thanks for reading my blog. As usual, you can show your support by following my blog and liking my posts. I hope you enjoyed these notebooks, and also my last set, DIY Tumblr Notebooks 2017.  Hopefully next week I’ll have a full BTS post up, and some more summery stuffs well, because the summer aint over yet. Post soon,

Leave Them All Behind: A Message on self-Esteem and Self-Respect and that stuff.

Also a Billy Talent song. Yeah. Should I have said that in the title? forget that fact for a minute. this was inspired by a very similar post by supernaturalsnark on her HIP TO BE SNARK blog. Forget the fact that ‘Leave Them All Behind’ is a rock/punk/alternative song for a minute. Just let me explain the premise and relate it to life.

Haters. No other way to say this. You hate them. It’s a fact. Great life tip: DON’T WORRY ABOUT WHAT THEY SAY! Don’t let them bring you down because you know that their words mean nothing. you are beautiful. You are amazing. You are worth the time. Not theirs. Let the haters be haters.

Fake friends. We hate them too. Sometimes, we don’t even know that they are fake friends until they turn on us.

It’s easy to pretend until they turn their back on you
And all the ones that bring you down, their colors weren’t that true

Just remember that. Their colors weren’t true, and you don’t need them. I have been through multiple occasions like this. It isn’t the end of the world. in fact, you’re better off without them.

Self-Doubt. We’ll all experience it at some point in our life. I experience it a lot. We tell ourselves that there is no way we can do something, but we’re wrong because if we put our minds to it, we can. We’re only telling ourselves that it’s impossible.

Loneliness. We’ve all been there. We have all felt as if there hasn’t been anybody there for us. There  are people there, though. Why we don’t see that is a mystery. you aren’t alone. Ben Kowalewicz said it himself. And you know what? Sometimes, you can’t depend on other people, and it just ends up being a me, myself and I situation, and that’s okay. Just make sure you have one or two friends to talk to, even if they are just online.

Self-Esteem/Respect. NEVER put yourself down. You are amazing, and you need to tell yourself that. You may not know your why yet. What you are meant to do. You are meant to do something great. Remember that.

It don’t matter what went wrong this time, don’t matter what went right
We’re always searching for the reason why
And the longest road to find it will take many years to climb
Don’t wait up for that moment to arrive
Leave them all behind

Leave the haters, fake friends and your self-doubt behind, and just go for it. You are worth the time. You are great. You can do epic stuff. Just believe in yourself.

Fly my darling. Leave them all behind and do what you were meant to do!

Anxiety can really get in the way, more often than not. It gets in the way at school, mostly. I suffer from it. A lot of people do. These are some tips that are a blend of what works for me and what has been recommended by the lovely jessiepaege on YouTube. I really do hope these tips help, so why don’t we get started.

Tip #1: Find Your Support Group
Everybody needs a life support group. This group should be people you can talk to and feel comfortable talking to about whatever is bothering you.
Tip #2: Don’t Attach Food to Emotion
If you attach food to emotion, it changes your eating habits for the worse. You can either overeat or undereat, and neither are good for you. You need to eat normally.
Tip #3: Music
Make a playlist to listen to when things become to much. Here are some of the songs I use:
Songs That Make Me Want To Dance
Diamond On A Landmine- Billy Talent
Louder Than The DJ- Billy Talent
I Want Out- Young Guns
Dracula- Bea Miller
Empowering Songs
Like That- Bea Miller
Wild Things- Alessia Cara
Young Blood- Bea Miller
Sad Songs
Nothing To Lose- Billy Talent
When We Were Young- Adele
Cure For The Enemy- Billy Talent
Too Late To Say Goodbye- Cage The Elephant
Tip #4: Distractions
Have something to take your mind off of whatever is bugging you. If they aren’t banned, fidget spinners work great. If you don’t have a spinner, or can’t bring one, wear a hairtie on your wrist and mess around with it. It takes your mind off of what is bugging you.
Tip #5: Journal
Keep a journal to just write down whatever is bugging you so that you can talk about whatever is bugging you later. It works, trust me.
Follow my blog if you don’t want to miss anymore of #TASHToSchool2017 and think that is should do more posts like this. It really supports me, so it is appreciated. I hope that this helps some of you, and that you enjoy reading some of my other posts. Talk soon!

A Motivational Message From the Journal of an Awkward Almost-Genius (AKA Me)

As Ben Kowalewicz (The Billy Talent vocalist) once said, ‘So many people will try to stop you, but you can’t let them. Live life to the fullest, and have however much  fun that you want.’ I personally think that this is great advice to live by, but does it apply to every situation? Does it apply to my situations and experiences? Call me crazy, but I look up to Ben and the guys in Billy Talent because, well look at them! They were like me, the dorks, the misfits and the outsiders in highschool who all had one common interest: rock music. they formed a group called Pezz and recorded tier first album in guitarist Ian D’Sa’s basement. This was almost 25 years ago. Pezz is still going strong, just under a different name. Now called Billy Talent, they can knock down any obstacle that stands in their way. Heck, they were willing to put the entire production of Afraid Of Heights on hold because of drummer Aaron Solowonuick’s MS relapse, but Aaron insisted that they soldier on without him. The bond that they have is crazy. They were once like me. So was JK Rowling, and they all went on to do something great. None of them ever fit in. They all had humble beginnings. They weren’t popular or well-liked. JK Rowling ended up on welfare, but still made Harry Potter happen. I am destined for greatness, or so I’ve been told. Or maybe I’m destined to be the villain in my own story.

All of us have the potential for great things. It’s just a matter of -ugh- effort and how we use that potential. If we put our minds to it, we can achieve greatness. I hope. I wan tto be the next JK Rowling, SE Hinton or Mary Higgins Clark. You look at some of these people an think they have it made, but you need to look at where they came from. Most of them built up their empire and wealth from absolutely nothing. Nobody great ever got there without actual effort. Nothing in life is free. Weather the price is money, or effort, you’re always paying somehow, and it always pays off. So go cahse your dreams, they aren’t out of reach.
